If you're relocated to the Bellevue area then you probably already know that this city is more than just a bedroom community for those working in nearby Seattle. But if you're new to the area, you may want to know what is available in terms of attractions and amenities here in your own hometown. This guide to the highlights of Bellevue will hopefully help you to see all of the reasons to stay in this city, whether it's for an indie rock concert or dinner out, and when it's time to take the trip into Seattle.

Bellevue is frequently known as the "City in the Park;" so if you're looking for outdoor entertainment you probably don't have to go much further than your own backyard. There are over a hundred parks in the city and several of them are even along the waterfront. You could spend the day with the family having a picnic or just take your lunch hour to get away from time and frequency standards and stroll along one of the many pathways. The Bellevue Botanical Gardens represents one of the city's parks and is thirty-six acres of manicured gardens. Flower lovers from around the world come to view this nature presentation.

Another way to experience the outdoors in Bellevue is by taking in a game at one of the city's many golf courses. Whether you're a London architect in town discussing business or a retiree who enjoys a weekly game, there are some courses with views of Lake Washington and others that overlook the Cascade Mountains.

Bellevue Square and Crossroads Bellevue are the best destinations for those interested in the city's shopping experience. Bellevue Square is your average American mall with over two hundred stores and even includes a kid's play area. If you're looking for organic baby lotion or a new suit, you can find it here. Crossroads is forty acres of shops, restaurants, entertainment options, and even has a giant chess set and an antique carousel. It's a great place to spend the day window shopping or getting all of your errands done.

At the end of a long day, whether it's at work or exploring the city, it's sure that you'd enjoy a good restaurant. Well, Bellevue has lots of options to choose from. Howie's Seastar Restaurant and the Melting Pot Restaurant are two of the city's favorites but there are options for any type of cuisine. One day you could have a fun dinner with friends and the next you could people watch while sitting outside on wrought iron furniture. Toronto to Tokyo you won't find nicer views.

If you're looking for performing arts, cultural events or professional sports, Seattle is ten minutes away for much of the city. But first, get out there and see what you can find right here at home. You may be surprised.
